Is Adult Dating Safe or Dangerous?

Is Adult Dating Safe or Dangerous? by Dianne Logan

Adult dating had become very popular due to the convenience of contacting people from all over the world through the Internet. Adult dating websites had mushroomed, with many of them charging substantial fees to help people meet and date. However, there is a lingering doubt as to whether adult dating is absolutely safe. If you wish to know whether adult dating is safe or dangerous, consider the following points to make your own conclusions.

1. The first risk in adult dating arises due to your own mental block. You are afraid of the emotional attachment that might be involved in adult dating. This could be due to your basic shy nature or hesitant mentality or even the trauma of a recent break-up. If you had approached another person at an earlier point of time and had been rejected and humiliated, this could have a deep impression on you and make you hesitant. If you had gone through a painful break-up of relationship recently, then you would definitely need some time for the wound to heal. However, you had to remember that these things are only temporary. They need not prevent you at all from active dating.

2. The next major risk in adult dating is in not knowing about your date completely. Even the most cruel and bad people appear to be quite ordinary on the surface. Further, they invariably hide their real intentions, even if they wish to date others and eventually hurt them. There is no instrument to find out the innate cruelty hidden in humans. It could be understood and realized only over a period of time, after a close relationship. Still, finding out common interests and individual preferences before becoming too much attached is not a difficult proposition. You had to be careful to find out everything possible about your dating partner before you allow yourself to become emotionally attached and involved with your date.

3. The third risk in adult dating is the danger of HIV and STD. Aids and sexually transmitted diseases are indeed a big threat nowadays. Too much physical relationships with several persons always increase the risk of contracting such diseases. Hence, you should avoid physical intercourse with your date until you are sure that the other person is completely safe in all aspects
.
4. People who always complain about everything incessantly would never feel satisfied with whatever you do. You should keep a distance from such persons.

5. If your date is keeping several credit cards and spending a lot of money on unnecessary purchases and expenditures, then it might be difficult to cope with such a person. A chronic spendthrift usually never changes. All your income and wealth might not be sufficient for your date. Avoid such persons.

6. One more clue to the nature of your date might be in his/her wardrobe or closet. If your date is a man and he is having lot of girly dresses, then his preferences might be different. The same is true of a woman having lot of macho dresses and boots. There would not be much point in continuing with such a person, whose tastes would never match with yours.

If you watch out for the above and a few more other serious pitfalls in adult dating, then adult dating would be quite safe and never dangerous.

Online Dating Advice: Tips for Staying Safe

Online Dating Advice: Tips for Staying Safe by Drake Mcall

In February 2008, a serial rapist had attacked six women in Maryland, sexually assaulting the victims at gunpoint. The thread connecting all the cases together was the fact that the rapist had met all of his victims through Craigslist, the free classified site.

Sadly, many victims respond to online dating advertisements looking for love, friendship, or other attractions - and they were raped, assaulted, or even murdered merely because they were looking for a companion. Online dating continues, nevertheless, to be a popular alternative to meeting potential partners in bars, sports events, or single-oriented events like ’speed dating,’ even when women and men are aware of the risks given by online dating advice.

Many of the risks associated with meeting someone through the internet can be prevented by adhering to online dating advice. These online dating advice tips have prevented countless acts of assault, and while they might seem over-protective, your safety is worth the precautions.

Start slow and casual. If you do manage to sort through the initial deluge of responses and a particular individual catches your attention, DO NOT offer to meet them right away. This online dating advice is very important. Instead, use a chat room or email (such as the services provided by MSN and Yahoo) and keep things impersonal for a while. If your instincts tell you that something’s wrong, listen to them! There will be other fish in the sea.

NEVER give out personal information online. This online dating advice can keep you safe from stalkers and scammers. What defines personal information? The answer is simple - anything that another person could use to identify you. That includes details about where you work, where you go to church, the area where you live - anything that could possibly be used to identify you. If somebody presses you for this information, don’t give in, regardless of how trustworthy he or she seems. The most important online dating advice rule is that you must ensure your own safety first!

Meet only in a public location. If you do decide to meet somebody from an online dating website face to face, meet them at a public location during daylight hours where there will be other people. A coffee shop or busy bookstore is considered safe options from an online dating advice perspective. If your potential date refuses to meet you publically, that’s a huge red flag. Only people with something to hide will hide. If you can’t get a public meeting for your first meeting, follow this online dating advice and move on.

Set up a ’safe call’ for that initial meeting. Ask a trustworthy friend or family member to call your cell phone at a particular time during your initial face-to-face meeting, not before or after, but during. The timing of this phone call is critical online dating advice. When your friend calls, you can tell your friend that all is well, or you can use a short code phrase to tell them that you feel uncomfortable and need help. You can also agree on a phrase to say that means that you feel as though you’re in immediate danger and your friend should hang up and call 911. If you don’t answer the phone at all, they are supposed to immediately call 911 and tell the operator that you didn’t answer your safe call and that they’re worried you might be in trouble. Choose somebody whom you know will follow these directions exactly - it is better to call a few police officers than to wind up dead, raped or beaten when your friend ignores the fact that you didn’t answer your phone.

Leave vital information with the same friend that pertains to your first meeting, such as the name of the person you’re meeting, their description, where you will be meeting, and what time you’ll be there - and what time you expect to be home. If necessary, this will be the information for the police to know, and this could be the online dating advice that saves your life.

Make sure you leave safely. When your initial face-to-face meeting with your new friend is over, find a way to ensure that they leave first. This way, your new friend can’t hang out in the parking lot and follow you home, and he won’t be able to discover which car is yours. This ensures you do not give away your license plate number - which is identifying information. And when you finally do leave your location, don’t drive straight home. Go to the mall, or meet your friends for dinner instead. If nothing else, you’ll want to tell everybody about how your first meeting went!

By exercising caution and utilizing these online dating advice safety tips, you can hopefully avoid the criminals, and instead, find someone with whom you connect online.

Confidence Is Key For Singles Dating

Confidence Is Key For Singles Dating by Cherry Campbell

Confidence can make dating easier. It can affect you and your approach to dating relationships and your ability to find love.

If your confidence has been knocked you may start to have some self doubt.

Negative thoughts such as “I’m not clever enough”, “I’m not handsome enough” and all the other “I’m not” thoughts, can start playing on your mind.

Positive thinking and beliefs are important when it comes to building confidence. Believe that there is someone out there who will like you for who you are. In order for that to happen, you need to see these qualities in yourself and acknowledge them.

Building confidence starts with valuing the qualities you have and believing that you have something to offer in a relationship. Start by making a list of the things you like about yourself. It is easy to take some of these for granted or to dismiss them as unimportant.

Make sure to write everything down, everything related to you, your attitudes, your approach to life and people, how you communicate, your accomplishments (no matter how small), your professional strengths, your natural talents, how you deal with emotions, your intelligence, social skills and any other aspects you can think of.

Place this list in a prominent place so that you can read it every day to re–inforce these to build your confidence.

Whether you are new to dating or have had many dating relationships, whether you’ve had rejections or not, it is helpful to learn from each experience and adapt your approach for the next occasion. This will help you have a positive focus so that you can continue to build and maintain your confidence.

Although it is important to be self aware and to adjust your own behaviour, it is also important to extend your focus beyond yourself.

If you’re not getting the dates you desire, the problem may not be with you but with the places or dating sites where you are trying to meet other singles.

Another confidence building tip is to check your expectations. Are they realistic?

If you go to a party hoping to meet your future partner, you may be disappointed when you find no–one there of interest.

This can dampen your confidence in meeting someone special at future parties or singles’ events.

To keep you confidence strong, change your expectations and focus. Set yourself a goal, for example, of “Having fun finding four interesting people to speak to (two men and two women).”

In this way your focus will be on the fun of doing just that and confidence is what you’ll be exuding.

Can Women 40+ Have Fun Dating?

Can Women 40+ Have Fun Dating? by Kimberly Anne

Question: Can women who are forty and over have fun dating? Yes, they can. But, unfortunately many do not. As an over-40, single mother of three I am very aware of this fact. You see, many women 40 and over talk to me about the dating experiences they have (or do not have!).

I’ll admit it: Dating can be tough. However, it doesn’t have to be. In fact I actually learned how to date. It’s true. I got to a point where I realized I needed some help - not professional help from a therapist (although I’m not against that) - but, well, training.

But I couldn’t find any formal training out there for women 40 and over on how to date. So, the alternative for me was to read as many books on dating as I could and to talk to women. Oh, and of course, to continue dating, no matter how disappointed or disillusioned I got.

So, needless to say, I have a lot of experience being “out there in the trenches!” Here are a few things that I know will enable you and all women 40 and over to have fun dating:

1. Safety first: Be responsible for your own safety. So, until you know a man, meet him at the location of your date and make sure it’s a public place. Also, make sure you park in a safe place such as a parking garage that has an attendant.

2. Realize that chivalry is not dead. Let your date open doors for you, accept his compliments with a warm “thank you,” and if he wants to pay for the evening, let him. Good men enjoy doing nice things for women they like. So let the man you’re out on a date with treat you well.

3. Talk less and listen more. Take the pressure off of yourself and avoid thinking that you have to keep the conversation going. Let your date ask you questions and listen to what he has to say about himself. You’ll be more relaxed and even find out interesting things about your date.

4. Go with the flow. If you’re enjoying your date’s company, then let the date last as long - or as short - as it is going to last. Often it’s an unconscious thing we do by saying something such as, “Oh, it’s getting late …” Avoid being the one to end the date because if you do you could miss out on getting to know something interesting or fun about your date.

5. Trust your gut. Now, I know that above I suggested you avoid being the one to end a date. However, there are exceptions to this. If you’re out on a date with a man with whom you’re uncomfortable - for any reason - then trust your gut and end the date. Make sure you end the date in a polite and tactful manner. Doing so has more to do with your safety than anything else. Avoid rejecting a man to his face - you never know how a person may react to rejection. Simply end the date at an appropriate time (such as when the meal is over), and say you have to get home because you have a long day the next day.

Of course dating can’t be boiled down to a few tips. There is a lot more to dating! However, consider the 5 above suggestions as small steps you can take to enjoying dating more. If nothing else, you’re at least increases the likelihood that you’ll have more fun in your life.
