Dating Online: 9 Easy Ways To Find Friendship, Romance and Long Term Relationships by Tenzin Pemo

Dating online is the latest buzz in the internet world. And its popularity is unquestionable.

Current statistics showed that more and more people are turning to dating online to find their ideal partner. In addition, dating online business has continuously surge through the years compared to other internet-based business.

The reason why dating online is so famous could be attributed to the busy lifestyles the singles adults today pursue. It is often hard for these single adults to juggle several careers at the same time.

Traditional dating is not only time-consuming but is also limited. With dating online, singles are able to cross borders which would otherwise be off-limits to them.

Dating online also serves as a viable way to meet people. Some people find it difficult to approach the opposite sex who they feel they are compatible with.

So they go online and create a profile for themselves which others can view, in order to narrow down exactly what they are looking for. Dating online provides a comfortable and intimate environment where you can safely and conveniently search and find your perfect soul mate at the same time having lots of fun.

Dating online is a good venue to find friendship, romance, long-term relationships, marriage and other purposes. The anonymity and sense of mystery of meeting people online is what makes it so attractive. Due to this the World Wide Web is becoming a quicker and more efficient way to meet people.

Computer use and internet connection have made the dating online phenomena possible.

However, warnings and precautions are conveyed to those taking part in dating online before they begin looking for love on the Net.

This is particularly true for females, in order to prevent incidents of rape and assault resulting from seemingly innocent meetings. Many dating sites have begun to get stricter in taking measures to prevent these so-called weirdos from accessing their site.

Emoticons are invented Internet language which includes images and abbreviations used to convey messages which are quick to type and understood by most regular chatroom visitors.

Dating online is very famous because of its convenience and advantages. The first and foremost advantage from dating online is that you can contact matches without revealing your real identity. You may meet the people you would otherwise never get the chance to encounter.

Since you are not seeing each other, it gives the chance to both of you to reveal the thoughts and feelings without feeling awkward.

Probably, dating online biggest drawback is the inability to predict chemistry. But the advantages to this medium as a way of finding, introducing, and developing a relationship are varied and plenty. And the increasing popularity of dating online is proof to its multiple advantages.

Fear of Intimacy: Discover How A Fear Of Intimacy Affects Your Relationship

Filed under: conflict — administrator @ 5:35 am

Fear of Intimacy: Discover How A Fear Of Intimacy Affects Your Relationship by Richard Nicastro

Intimacy is a lot like trying to get warm on a cold winter night. You wrap yourself up in your favorite blankets and settle in for sleep, but at some point overnight you may feel too warm and constrained by the blankets. So you disentangle yourself from them and push them away. But after a few hours of blanket-freedom you may feel chilled again. So you reach over to find the discarded blankets and wrap them around you again, basking in the warmth and security they bring…that is, until you feel too warm again…

Fear of intimacy

The term “fear of intimacy” is often used to describe someone who has difficulty creating a close connection to their partner. The phrase highlights a person’s struggle to become physically and/or emotionally close and we often describe this struggle as a fear. However, this general term can’t fully explain what lies behind one’s struggle with intimacy.

Let’s take a closer look at three ways a fear of intimacy can manifest in your marriage or relationship.

1. Intolerance for closeness–physical and emotional.

For some, a more accurate description would be an intolerance of intimacy. You may have a desire for intimacy yet have a strong, negative physical reaction to deeper levels of connection. It’s as if your body’s intimacy-thermostat is set to avoidance or withdrawal mode whenever a certain level of intimacy occurs. People who have this reaction may feel confused by it and not fully aware that it is happening.

Overcoming a fear of intimacy that stems from adverse physical reactions:

The roots of this reaction often (but not always) stem from the disruptions of intimacy (i.e., neglectful or intrusive parenting) in childhood. When this is the case in your history, the goal for you will be to learn how your body reacts to emotional and physical intimacy. (Be sure to suspend self-criticism while monitoring your reactions.) Once you become aware of your bodily cues, you can use relaxation exercises as a way to recondition your body so that you can accept deeper levels of connection from your partner.

2. Gender role constrictions

Society creates powerful rules for how men and women relate to each other. Female/male stereotypes have a potent influence on what you feel is an acceptable (and unacceptable) way to experience and express intimacy. Often these gender roles function behind the scenes in your relationship, at times guiding you and your partner. However, they can frequently serve as a strait-jacket, limiting the level of intimacy allowed in your relationship.

Each society and culture has powerful unspoken rules dictating how women and men should relate to one another. These rules may work well for you and your partner, but at times they can adversely restrict the ways in which you and your partner relate to one another. For Juan, he needed to learn that his wife would not reject or shame him if he began to express softer emotions. He slowly discovered that his vulnerability made his wife feel safe and connected to him.

Overcoming a fear of intimacy based on gender stereotypes:

Do you feel that societal and cultural gender role stereotypes are holding you (or your partner) back in your relationship? If so, take some time to journal the ways in which female/male stereotypes are blocking your marriage or relationship from reaching its full potential.

Can you discuss this with your partner and develop a mutual plan to overcome any gender restrictions that may exist in your marriage or relationship?

3. Family role models

Most educational systems do not teach you how to create and maintain a long-term, intimate relationship. Often learning occurs by trial and error–and for better or worse, most of us learn by observing the relationships that surrounded us throughout our formative years. You learned by observing how your caregivers related to one another (and to others), as well as how the important adults in your life related to you.

The long arm of your childhood family role models can create powerful expectations and beliefs that negatively influence your view of relationships and intimacy.

Overcoming a fear of intimacy caused by relationship role-models:

Becoming mindful of your (and your partner’s) beliefs that inhibit emotional and physical intimacy can help you clarify any conflicting attitudes that you and your partner may hold about intimacy. Often couples misinterpret their differing expectations as a fear of intimacy rather than the existence of expectations that each partner holds.

What expectations do you hold about emotional and physical intimacy?

How do you believe intimacy is best created in your relationship? Is this view consistent with your partner’s?

Do you hold any beliefs from your family-of-origin that negatively impact your ability to create a close bond with your partner?

Use these questions (and others you might think of) to start a dialogue with your partner about how to take the steps necessary to begin increasing the intimacy in your relationship.

Like that blanket that can keep you warm one moment and feel constraining the next, over the course of your relationship you will need to adjust the level of intimacy depending on the type and degree of closeness that feels most comfortable to you. If you (or your partner) frequently cast the blankets of intimacy aside, it may be a sign that an underlying fear of intimacy is at work. If so, take the steps to examine what lies behind your fear of intimacy and you will be on your way to creating a deeper, more fulfilling connection with your spouse or partner.

Is Smoke Stinking Up Your Relationship?

Filed under: conflict — administrator @ 5:32 am

Is Smoke Stinking Up Your Relationship? by Shawn Wilson

There are lots of issues that couples can have contradictory feelings on. Sports. Family. What to do on a Saturday night. But there are very few things that can come between a couple the way that smoking can. If one of you is a smoker and the other an avid non-smoker, smoking can sometimes become an issue that will make or break the relationship.

If you have strong preferences about smoking, chances are that you put those preferences in your internet dating profile. But sometimes it happens that you end up with somebody who –though perfect in every other way– doesn’t have the same feelings you do about smoking. And you have to decide whether your relationship can weather this conflict… or whether cigarettes will smoke your partner right on out of the relationship.

Put Yourself in Their Shoes (or Lungs). The first step in coming to terms with this particular conflict is to be understanding. Look at the situation from your partner’s point of view. If you’re a smoker and your partner isn’t, try to understand how bothersome cigarette smoke can be to non-smokers. It may just irritate them, or may even cause health problems. Not to mention how it can stink up a room, permeate your clothing, and even make you taste bad.

If you’re a non-smoker, try to put yourself in your partner’s shoes. Smoking is a very strong addiction, and for most smokers is a real pleasure. Not having a cigarette when they want one is difficult and unpleasant, and not smoking makes your partner suffer the same way that you suffer when they do smoke. It’s not an easy situation for anybody.

Try to Be Patient. If somebody you’re dating put on their internet dating profile that they don’t smoke when they do, you don’t have much reason to be patient with them. But if you entered into a relationship knowing that your partner was a smoker, you need to be patient with their addiction. Most smokers out there wish that they could quit, and plan to do so at some time. But quitting smoking is incredibly difficult, and you need to have patience with the process. If your partner plans to quit, it won’t happen overnight.

Learn to Compromise. When one person in a relationship smokes and the other doesn’t, you will probably have to make a compromise. Unless the smoker makes the decision to quit immediately, you’ll have to deal with smoking (or not smoking) in your day to day lives together.

In order to make life easier for you both, talk about when it’s okay to smoke and when it’s not. If a non-smoker insists that no smoking be done inside while he or she is in the room, it’s important for the non-smoker to give concessions as well. A smoker should have times (and places) when he or she can smoke, just as the non-smoker should have times when he or she can breathe smoke-free.

Be Considerate. If you’re dating a smoker, be considerate about their addiction. You may not like the smell, taste, or even the existence of cigarettes, but for now your partner is addicted to them. So don’t give them too hard a time, and allow them to smoke without feeling pressure or judgment from you. The decision to quit is something a smoker makes on his or her own, and pushing may have an opposite effect to the one you’re looking for.

If you smoke, however, you already know how important it is to be considerate to the non-smokers around you… especially the one you have sex with! Don’t smoke around your partner if you’re not in a well-ventilated area, and don’t smoke in his or her home. If you’re considerate of your partner’s need to breathe freely, you can expect him or her to be considerate of your need to smoke.
